Farmers Market Pictures

Ok so I just realized that it has been a long time since my last blog post. It has been kind of busy lately. So I just thought that I would post some pictures from Saturdays farmers market in Valley City.

Tomatoes, tomatoes, tomatoes

A bunch of round zucchini and some other things.

Since we had so much left after market we decided to set up our roadside stand.

  1. Oh wow, I love those coloured carrots in the first photo, I've yet to try growing them, lol, I've yet to grow an orange one properly yet!

  2. Sometimes carrots can be tricky to grow. I think the hardest thing for me is if they are not planted at just the right time the weeds will grow faster than the carrots. Since the carrots are so small and slow growing it can become hard to weed if the weeds are larger than the carrots. I have run into this problem if I start my carrots too soon when the ground is still cold for the carrots to grow quick enough.

Anyhow, we had a very, very good carrot year this year. Hopefully next year will be just as successful. I plan to grow a few new varieties next year including a couple of different purple varieties, I think the purple varieties are just beautiful.
